A collision is stressful. Here’s how to make sure you’re staying safe and doing what’s necessary in the aftermath.

STAY SAFE
Move to a safe location. Check for any injuries to passengers and call emergency services as soon as possible.
In a crash, built-in sensors in an OnStar®-equipped vehicle can detect when a collision has occurred using OnStar Automatic Crash Response† and transmit that information to a specially trained OnStar Advisor, who can pinpoint your vehicle’s location, call for help and provide medical treatment options until first responders arrive.2 of 6
PHOTOGRAPH THE SCENE
If possible, photograph the scene, including:
- License plates
- Damage to the vehicle(s)
- Surroundings including buildings, road signs or landmarks
- Skid marks
- Fluid leaks
- Weather and road conditions
- Any injuries (if appropriate and safe)

CONTACT YOUR INSURANCE COMPANY
File a claim with your insurance company. Ask your advisor, “Will GM OE parts be used in my repair?” You have the right to request GM Original Equipment (OE) parts for your GM vehicle, even if your insurance plan does not specifically cover them.
