HOW TO INSTALL : BRAKE PADS

Pop the hood and check the brake fluid
Check that the levels in the reservoir are between the maximum and minimum allowable points.

Remove the tire and wheel assembly
Safely raise and support the vehicle to remove the tire and wheel assembly.

Prepare to remove brake caliper and brake pads
Place a large c-clamp over the brake caliper body and outer brake pad. Compress the caliper piston fully into the brake caliper bore. Remove the brake caliper guide pin.

Remove brake caliper and brake pad
Loosen the inner brake pad by twisting a screwdriver between the inner brake pad and brake caliper. Pivot the brake caliper upward and secure it. Remove the front disc brake pad retaining springs. Then remove the inner and outer brake pads. Thoroughly clean the retaining spring contact area and surfaces of the brake caliper bracket.

Apply brake lubricant
Apply the M-77 paste to the disc brake pad retaining spring where all four of the brake pad tabs contact the spring.

Install the disc brake pad retaining spring
Install the disc brake pad retaining spring with the tab in the leading edge of the brake caliper bracket.

Install the new brake pads
Apply brake cleaner and install the outer and inner disc brake pads. Secure the front disc brake pad retaining springs and the front brake caliper. Reinstall the brake caliper guide pin bolt and tighten to 30 foot-pounds. Reinstall the tire and wheel assembly and safely lower the vehicle from the jacks.

Pump the brakes
With the engine off, gradually apply the brake pedal to approximately two-thirds of its travel distance, then slowly release the brake pedal. Wait 15 seconds and reapply the same two-thirds pressure to the brake pedal until its firm.

Refill the brake fluid
Using a clean, sealed bottle of the appropriate ACDelco Brake Fluid for your vehicle, fill the brake fluid reservoir to the maximum full level. After a few firm stops to burnish your new brake pads, you’ll be ready for the road.
